The SCIP (Sound Contrasts In Phonology) app represents a significant advancement in speech therapy tools, developed under a substantial NIH grant by ASHA Fellow Dr. A. Lynn Williams. This collaboration with EBS Learning aims to enhance therapeutic efficiency and improve speech intelligibility within shorter timeframes.

SCIP offers flexibility in treatment approaches, incorporating five distinct contrastive methods:

• Multiple Oppositions
• Minimal Pairs
• Maximal Oppositions
• Treatment of the Empty Set
• Vowel Contrasts

With a database of over 2,400 real words and 6,000 nonsense words, SCIP provides a diverse array of stimuli to facilitate rapid progress in therapy. The application accommodates both individual and group sessions, serving up to four students simultaneously while ensuring personalized treatment targets and data collection for each participant. Additionally, it allows users to generate print or email reports, including graphs of treatment progress and individualized session notes.

Users can choose between targeting word-initial or word-final sounds with the aid of illustrations or pictures. The app also offers the capability to print illustrations for use outside of therapy sessions, allowing for effective practice at home.
